First dates may be nerve-wracking for anybody, but they can be especially stressful for people who are self-conscious about their appearance. You want to look your best for your date, but you also don’t want to spend hours primping and preening before you go out. People frequently seek advice from others regarding how to present themselves in the best possible light on a first date. In this article, we will go over seven helpful hints that will allow you to look your absolute best without having to spend an excessive amount of time in front of the mirror.

Dress So You Feel Comfortable And Relaxed

The primary consideration should be whether or not the clothing you are donning makes you feel good. Your date will be able to tell from the way you carry yourself if you are not at ease, since this will be reflected in your body language. Pick an outfit that not only flatters your figure but also one that you would be pleased to put on even if you were doing nothing more than hanging out with your pals. If you would feel more comfortable with tailored pants and a shirt, then by all means do so. Alternately, pants and a lovely top will do the trick if you are going for a more laid-back appearance. You should strive to be self-assured and at ease in your own skin. This is the most important thing.

Do Something About Your Hair

Once more, this is about achieving a comfortable sensation. If you regularly wear your hair down, you shouldn’t bother trying to give it an intricate updo merely for the sake of having something different to do with it. Stay true to what you already know, and style your hair in a way that brings out the best in you. Having said that, if you are often very unmotivated when it comes to taking care of your hair, now is the time to make an effort. When it comes to cosmetics, a little amount can also go a long way. Just make sure you don’t go too far with it! For instance, if you don’t often wear any makeup, you should be fine with just a dab of lip balm and a few coats of mascara. It shouldn’t take you more than half an hour to style your hair and apply your makeup; therefore, you shouldn’t stand in front of the mirror for hours at a time.

Think About The Small Details

After you’ve decided what to wear and styled your hair, it’s time to pay attention to the smaller elements. Check that your fingernails are clean and that your shoes have been polished. If you wear glasses, you should keep them as clean as possible. Your appearance of being put together will noticeably improve as a result of these minor adjustments. Imagine that the person you were going out with came up with unclean fingernails. It could be wearing your favourite argyle pink diamonds, or a special hair clip, thinking about the finer details will ultimately make you feel more comfortable.

Think About Your Smell

This one is quite significant. Nobody wants to spend the evening with a person who has a strong offensive odour. Be sure to apply some sort of deodorant or antiperspirant, and keep in mind that less is more when it comes to perfume application. You only require a fragrance that is light and airy. You could want to try something like a citrus-scented body spray, for instance. You may also use scented lotion instead, which has a more understated aroma if that’s what you’d want. In this manner, you can enjoy a pleasant aroma without being overpowered by it.

Think About Your Posture

It is something that is frequently disregarded, but maintaining a correct posture can have a significant impact on how one appears to others. When you slouch, you give off the impression that you lack self-assurance and are uninterested in life, neither of which are attractive attributes. Make sure that you are sitting up straight and that your shoulders are back. It will give the impression that you are more self-assured and alert, both of which are characteristics that are guaranteed to win over your date.

Get Rest The Night Before

This one is very significant! Make sure you got a decent night’s sleep before your date. You will not only appear more rested, but you will also feel more energised and optimistic as a result of getting adequate rest. When the discussion begins to lag and you are at a loss for what to say next, you will find that this comes in quite handy. Believe us when we say that your date will be grateful if you can control your yawning throughout the evening! Additionally, make it a point to abstain from alcohol consumption the night before your date. We are all aware that drinking alcohol can result in a hungover and puffy appearance the next day. In addition to this, it has the potential to cause you to behave inconsistently and say things that you may come to regret in the future.

Remember To Smile

The most essential thing is to loosen up and have a good time for yourself. It will be obvious to others if you are tight and apprehensive about anything. Smiling is the most effective weapon you have against this situation. Smiling gives the impression that you are approachable and friendly, which are two characteristics that are sure to get you some points with your date. If you find that the act of smiling makes you anxious, try focusing on something that brings you joy instead. Your grin will appear more naturally as a result of this, which will help you relax. In addition to that, if you find something to be humorous, don’t forget to chuckle! Make sure you have a good time on the first date, as it is intended to be a light-hearted occasion.

If you do all of these things, you should find that you have a higher level of self-confidence, both in terms of who you are and how you look. Always keep in mind that the most vital step is to unwind and have fun for yourself. If you do that, then it is almost certain that your date will enjoy themselves as well. Best of luck!

How To Get Ready For A Valentine’s Date

8 February 2023 by amber Leave a Comment

No other day in the year is perhaps quite as exciting to have a date planned for as Valentine’s Day. Not only is this the most romantic time of year, but there will also be plenty of things to do, so if you don’t want to sit in a restaurant and chat, you’ll certainly be able to find other romance-inspired events taking place nearby.

No matter what it is you do on your date, you’re going to want to make sure you’re ready for it. This can feel daunting, no matter whether you often date or you don’t go out very much. After all, on Valentine’s Day, people do tend to make an effort. With that in mind, here are some things to remember when you get ready for Valentine’s.

Relax

Even if you’re really excited about your date, you’ll probably feel nervous too. It’s great to meet new people and do new things, but that can be scary, and it’s not uncommon for everyone – both men and women – to feel anxious about the evening to come. Unfortunately, this can mean that they don’t enjoy themselves too much, and they waste their chance of having a good time.

This is why it’s a good idea to relax as much as possible before your date. Take a long soak in the bath or enjoy a nice shower (this will make you feel more relaxed and make sure you smell good at the same time!), watch a movie, go for a walk, play a game, or do whatever it is you need to do to calm yourself down.

Think About Your Outfit

Everyone has been in this situation; you’ve waited and waited for something exciting to take place, and then suddenly, the time has arrived, and it takes you by surprise. You’re just not ready, and then you panic. For the men out there looking for a stylish outfit for their Valentine’s Day date, Oxford has a great range of options that are sure to impress.

To stop this from happening to you when it comes to your Valentine’s date, make sure you choose your outfit well ahead of time. If you’re buying something new, you can have some fun going shopping and really take some time to consider what you’ll wear. If you’re wearing clothes you already have, set some time aside to look at your potential outfits and then consider the different combinations and accessories that might work for you too. Settle on an outfit and have it clean and ready for your date, and you won’t run the risk of panicking or being late.

Get A Makeover

Whether or not you opt for this idea will depend on how much you like to be pampered, how much you want to impress on your date, and how much you want to treat yourself – a makeover can help calm your nerves, which, as we know, can be a problem.

If you do want to get glammed up, book your appointment as soon as you know you’ll be going on a date, as you might find there are no slots left for you (especially around Valentine’s Day).

Speak to a stylist, get your hair done, have a makeup artist do your makeup, and perhaps you even want to try clear retainers in the weeks leading up to the date (and continue to use them afterward for straight teeth). What you do is your choice, but if it makes you feel good and confident, go ahead.
