The ‘it girl‘ has long been a phrase that has been used to sum up a beautiful, fashionable young woman. Someone on the cutting edge of fashion and leading the way with all that’s new to wear, but also the places to be and the people to be seen with – that’s an ‘it girl’ for me. There have been many eras when it girls seem to have come to the fore. The nineteen twenties comes to mind as does the swinging sixties. For me though the eighties were perhaps the height of the use of the phase with many prominent it girls in the news.
It’s that idea of being at the forefront of fashion and being up with the latest trends that has inspired me to set up this site: I’m the it girl. I love all things fashion including accessories, beauty, jewelry and more. These are all things I love to write about and that I want to share with you. Writing about the things I love is important to me and I do so enjoy sharing my favourite things and experiences. I hope you will enjoy reading about them too over the years.
I’ll be writing about clothes, everything from designing the perfect capsule wardrobe to the latest gear to wear to the gym. I’ll include formal wear, party wear, casual wear and everything in between. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone as I’ll be covering every sort of fashion that sparks an interest for me. Sharing the best accessories, the latest palettes and how to wear them all will also be a key part of the content. Being fashionable isn’t simply about wearing the latest threads, sporting the most recent makeup looks and putting it all together to create a cutting edge outfit. It’s also about being seen in the right places, so it’s knowing where the in crowd are heading at the weekends or in the evenings. It’s really something to be in the place where it’s at with all the right people.
Food and drink for certainly a part of it. There are fashions in refreshments, just as there is in clothing and accessories. Sometimes it might be tapas that hits the news and another time, it might be street food. So it’s about keeping up with the crowd, but also about keeping one step ahead and discovering new haunts before everyone knows about them. Being a trendsetter, rather than just a trend follower. Creating fashion rather than just following it slavishly.
