Fashion comes and goes like the seasons, which is why it’s so important to let your interests run their course. However, from time to time you may find that the style you’ve invested so much money and time into no longer feels that appealing. We can relate, it’s only when you try to lace up those stomper boots you’ve been wearing with pride for the thousandth time, or you feel as though your current clothes no longer fit for your body type, that you begin to question if you should dress anew.

Ultimately, fashion is a style approach that helps you express yourself, not the you of a year ago. For this reason, switching up your perspective and trying something new can only be healthy and rewarding. But that much is not always obvious when we’re questioning how to start fresh.

Of course, not all style is expressed via clothing. For some people, recuperative cosmetic services, a new hairstyle, removing or adding piercings, and even presenting more of their natural self can help them feel rejuvenated.

If you feel tired of your style, it’s always good to think through your next steps, if only for fun’s sake. In this post, we’ll help you along with that effort:

Keep Things Neutral For A Little While

You don’t owe anyone perfect style, nor do you have to meet a standard in order to look good. It can be good to take a break from your previous approach for a little while, be that wearing neutral makeup, not dressing in super well-fitting or expensive clothes, or just giving yourself some breathing room to dress how you like. This way, you can reset your perspective, feel comfortable outside of your normal approach, and reconsider what it is you like to wear. It might just be that for now, comfortable clothes are good enough.

Think Of Your Foundational Self-Expression Goals

While you don’t have to be so self-serious about things, it can be helpful to think about the kind of self-expression you wish to be part of. Do you enjoy fixing up your bags and jackets with plenty of badges and patches? Do you enjoy tie-dying shirts for that retro vibe? Or do you usually wear streetwear, but are tired of thrifting? It can be worthwhile to think about what kind of approach you wish to take, be that wearing sustainable fashion as much as you can, or even incorporating stylistic elements for the season, such as open, airy, lighter colors for summer.

Turn Your Hand To Your Own Crafts

It might be that you’re quite happy with your wardrobe now, but making alterations could give you a wonderful sense of rejuvenation. Cutting trousers into shirts, cutting the cleeves off of shirts, or even adding a new strap to your bag are all examples of that custom DIY approach that replicates the height of what style is supposed to be – fun, plucky, enjoyable, and most of all, unapologetically you.

With this advice, you’re sure to take the break you need and return to style anew, feeling all the more confident for it.
